SG3 Soundbites

No, Michael did not make an appearance at this con (before you ask the question) but I wanted to mention some things that were said regarding Michael.

Don S Davis, who plays General Hammond on Stargate SG-1, made a very moving speech during his talk on Sunday after being surprised by a box of tissues flying through the Stargate stage prop (significance - Michael's character, Daniel Jackson, was introduced in the Stargate SG-1 series after he returned a box of tissues through the Stargate).

Don used the phrases "nicest", "most-talented" and "most giving" to describe Michael. He also said "we're going to miss him" but that he will have a "fantastic" career.

Don went on to say that "[Michael is] obsessed with the art of acting, just like himself and any actor worth their salt" and "[We] couldn't have this show if he hadn't built that character the way he did" (to which we all clapped and cheered).

The words were amazing and the emotion behind them was plain for anyone to see. Don was clearly affected and so were many of us in the audience.

Unfortunately, I missed Don's talk on Saturday but a friend did say that Don had stated he and Christopher Judge (Teal'c) had talked to Michael extensively about his decision to leave.

At the end of Don's talk on Sunday, Bryan - the con coordinator - thanked Don for his honesty and, after telling the audience that he'd spent a couple of hours with Michael recently (organising SG4), said the following about Michael: "A nicer person you could not wish for".

The next con appearance that Michael has planned is at Wolf SG4, London, in February.

p.s. When asked what it was like to kiss Michael, Vaitiare Bandera (Sha're) replied "Michael's the best kisser".
