Stargate SG-1 (www.stargate-sg1.com)
Stargate SG-1 is a science fiction spin-off series from the 1994 Devlin/Emmerich movie Stargate which originally starred Kurt Russell as Colonel Jack O'Neill and James Spader as Dr. Daniel Jackson. The film is about an alien artifact, the Stargate, found in Giza in the 1930s. The Stargate allows matter to be transported via a wormhole connected to another Stargate on a different planet in the galaxy. O'Neill, Jackson and a military team travel to the planet, Abydos, and free the indigenous humans from an alien God posing as Ra.

The TV show centres around a US military team, SG-1, which consists of O'Neill (played by Richard Dean Anderson), Jackson (Michael Shanks), Captain/Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and a Jaffa (alien) called Teal'c (Christopher Judge). The Stargate on Earth is reactivated a year after the first Abydos mission and SG-1, along with several other teams, venture through the 'Gate to explore other worlds and determine the threat from other members of Ra's race - parasites called the Goa'uld. It films its sixth and final season in 2002 with the possibility of a feature film still alive.

  • Dr. Daniel Jackson:
Daniel Jackson is an Archaeologist/Anthropologist first seen in the feature film giving a lecture on the origins of the Great Pyramids. His "wild" theories ruined his academic reputation and he took a job translating Egyptian hieroglyphs from the coverstone of an ancient artifact - the Stargate. After figuring out how to make it work, Jackson joined the team led by O'Neill that went to Abydos, where he met and married an indigenous woman, Sha'uri. Jackson stayed on Abydos at the end of the film.

A year later, Sha'uri is kidnapped and possessed by a Goa'uld. Jackson returns to Earth to join SG-1 and search for his wife and brother-in-law, who is also taken. His archaeological skills, ability to speak at least 23 languages and "talk first, shoot later" attitude prove vital to SG-1 and the SGC (Stargate Command). After Sha'uri is killed, Jackson remains with SG-1 to search for her child. He leaves the team after five years when he receives a fatal dose of radiation whilst saving a planet. Although he doesn't die, Jackson ascends to another plane of existence. His current whereabouts are unknown.

  • Ma'chello:
Ma'chello appears in the Season Two episode Holiday (and in a flashback in Season Three ep Legacy) He is an old man who invented weapons to fight the Goa'uld. One such invention switches Ma'chello and Daniel Jackson's bodies, leaving Jackson fighting for his life whilst Ma'chello travels around Colorado Springs in Jackson's body. Ma'chello dies shortly after he returns to his own body.

  • Thor:
Thor is a member of the Asgard race who first appears in Season Two. He becomes an ally to Earth and calls on them to help fight the replicators at the end of Season Three. The last episode of Season Five leaves Thor seriously ill after being captured and tortured by the Goa'uld.

Although Thor's physical appearance is provided by puppets and computer-generated images, Michael has been his voice since the Season Three episode Fair Game.

Their employers are skeptical but Bouton tries to prove Mary 25 is fine by allowing it to look after his children. • Dr Will Olsten - Manifest Destiny (Season Six)
Years into the future, Dr Will Olsten is the civilian doctor assigned to a search and rescue team which attempts to find the crew of a ship sent to colonize a planet. Escape From Mars
It's 2015 and five people are on the first mission to Mars. The team suffer major problems before they even arrive on Mars and things only get worse once they're there. The mission changes from one of exploration to one of survival as the chances of them returning to Earth decrease. The film also stars Peter Outerbridge and Christine Elise.

  • Bill Malone
Bill Malone is a civilian architect sent to determine whether houses could be built on the red planet. Whilst on Mars, he builds a capsule that holds breathable air and acts as a shelter from a sudden meteor shower. Unfortunately, we don't see a flashback to his past as we do with the other crew members.

The Artist's Circle - The Artist
This 8-minute short film by Bruce Marchfelder features an artist who creates his latest piece whilst a group of "critics" discuss the work. Michael plays the Artist, who doesn't say a word throughout the whole film. The film is satirical and symbolic.

    Andromeda
The Andromeda Ascendant is a Commonwealth warship that was caught in a time-dilation caused by a Black Hole the Andromeda got too close to whilst trying to dodge enemy fire. It is dragged away from the Black Hole 300 years later, although to Andromeda and the only remaining person on board, Captain Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo), only a few moments had passed. The ship has an AI system (called Andromeda and played by Lexa Doig) who appears on the computer screens and as a hologram. She also has a physical embodiment, Rommie (called an "avatar"). After gaining a new skeleton crew, Hunt leads the Andromeda in a quest to restore the Commonwealth.

  • Gabriel - Star-Crossed (Season One)
In Star-Crossed, Andromeda rescues Gabriel's escape pod after his ship is destroyed. Gabriel is an android who claims to be a teacher. He and Rommie fall in love but when Andromeda starts malfunctioning, Gabriel reveals himself as the avatar of another warship - Andromeda's main enemy, the Balance of Judgement (leader of the Restorians). The Balance has to be stopped but whether Gabriel can be freed from the Balance's control is unknown.
