by littlevera So having become an avid SG fan - read: since the week before when I caught the delectable ad in Frontier magazine - I headed off to the Saturday of the con. Just so happens I managed to pass Michael on the way to the dealer's room surrounded by fans before I realised it was him - in my defense I was single minded in my determination to get my hands on the tape and just about missed the real thing - what can I say? I had Daniel Jackson on the brain the entire day <g>. Anyway, Saturday had Michael on stage for an hour alone, at the beginning of which he indulged those with cameras with some classic Daniel poses which had the flashes blinding him and the audience in laughter. I love him without the requisite frames - opens him up and well the obvious takes you straight to his eyes. After carefully cautious questions like fave colours, blue <had on a deep blue shirt and lighter jeans> we got down to the real stuff like the practical jokes - Chris Judge and his intense fear of bears whenever they were filming outside, something he took blatant advantage of several times! And flatulence was mentioned as well <g>. I still don't get the "puff and ruffle" reference, and what it has to do with Vanessa Angel, other than the fact that all the males on set began to act like Alpha's whenever she was around...but Michael's "not me" was accompanied by a sly grin to the side. He went on to say that he's always been a fan of sci-fi, though since working on SG, he's lost interest in watching. He seemed to share that in common with the other guest from Farscape, Wayne Pygram aka Scorpius and Patrick Stewart lookalike, who was absolutely delightful as well, despite being a last minute replacement for the other SG guests that were called away on filming commitments. Michael hasn't got any projects lined up at the moment, though he did say the new Battlestar Galactica movie being made had caught his eye - a statement that got a round of applause from the fans in the audience. He talked a bit about theatre and the character he's always wanted to play being Henry V - something which after seeing a recent production of he's changed his mind about - he said he doesn't see the story grabbing comtemproray audiences anymore. He mentioned that his fave eps were the ones like Torment of Tantalus in which the element of discovery was present, something which has for him been missing in current seasons for Daniel. He was patient with some really weird questions
about copyright <don't ask me why that was asked> and actually tried
to answer it to the best of his knowledge, as well as funny during the
auction where he kept on staring in wonder at a photo of RDA, complete
with mullet haircut from his MacGyver days. Michael let us in on a little
secret - the pic which looks like RDA is sitting on a motorbike is actually
a mountain bike. Other titbits about RDA : MS confessed that RDA is more
immature than he'll ever be After watching him valiantly sign autographs and take photos for almost 2 hours, while still recovering from his cold <a stress reliever, according to him> I finally got to see him up close...and he's amazing! He devoted those few minutes entirely to each fan. Now of course I have this print, with sig, of him in maybe s5 or 6 in which is a classic Daniel pose that makes you want to give him a big hug. He was a delight at the auction - modelling the army pants which he signed ie. putting it over the jeans he was wearing - back and front! Also Amanda Tapping's little, itty bitty t-shirt (not kidding!! xtra, xtra small> and was wonderful in offering to sign various items which boosted their value. <sigh> The show just isn't going to be the same without him. And for the first time I'm glad Aus is so behind in seasons. I'm gonna miss him. littlevera
